Manager's Experience

Founded in 1972 in Menlo Park by Don Valentine, a semiconductor industry veteran, who named it after the sequoia tree rather than himself. Alfred Lin (joined 2010 after serving as chairman, COO, and CFO of Zappos, leading early-stage investing since 2017) and Pat Grady (joined 2007 from Summit Partners, leading growth-stage investing since 2015) became joint managing partners in November 2025, succeeding Roelof Botha.
