Investment Thesis

Nordic FoodTech VC invests at pre-seed and seed with a thesis that the food system must be rebuilt from its foundations rather than optimised at the edges. They back science-driven companies across alternative proteins, agricultural technology, food processing, packaging, and food-related health and biotechnology, concentrating on the Nordic and Baltic region where research infrastructure and sustainability expertise are unusually strong.

Manager's Experience

Founded in 2019 in Helsinki, with the team now split between Helsinki and Copenhagen, led by partners Lauri Reuter, PhD, and Louise Heiberg. Fund I raised €42 million in 2020 and deployed into roughly 18 companies across the Nordics and Baltics, including Enifer and Kuva Space in Finland, Chromologics and Evodia in Denmark, Melt&Marble and Ironic Biotech in Sweden, and ÄIO in Estonia. Fund II announced a €40 million first close in June 2025 against an €80 million target, backed by Tesi, Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company, the Valio Pension Fund and Heino Group, and is SFDR Article 8 aligned. The team sources heavily from universities and research institutions rather than accelerator pipelines and actively leads or co-leads its rounds.
