Manager's Experience

Founded in 2023 by Wen Hsieh and Haomiao Huang, who left Kleiner Perkins to build a hardtech-dedicated firm on the premise that venture capital has been fine-tuned for software while hardtech lacked a proven approach. Hsieh spent 17 years at Kleiner including leading KPCB China, with investments in DJI, Desktop Metal, Amprius and LuxVue (acquired by Apple); he holds a Caltech PhD and founded MEMS biochip startup OnChip. Huang was at Kleiner four years after a Stanford PhD and seven years as CTO of Kuna, and co-led Dexterity and Lumafield with Hsieh. Operating Partner and CFO Mel Tang is the former CFO of Ring. The $300M debut fund closed in 2024 — one of the largest first funds of 2023–24 against a $37M median — backed by Kleiner Perkins and TSMC, with all three partners also LPs.
