Investment Thesis
Headline EU VIII is a seed and Series A fund backing European founders, with a focus on AI. Headline can lead a company's first institutional round and, through its Global Growth Fund, rounds of $100M or more, so the partner who led the first investment stays involved through later stages. The firm differentiates itself through more than two decades of investing in Europe, early bets on Mistral and Black Forest Labs, and hands-on help with US expansion, from setting up a first entity to preparing a cross-border listing.
Manager's Experience
Founded in 1998 by Mathias Schilling and Thomas Gieselmann as BV Capital, later renamed e.ventures and then Headline after combining with Infinity Ventures. Has invested in European technology for more than two decades, with early-stage investments including Mistral (backed at seed in 2023 and in every round since), Black Forest Labs, Attio, Bioptimus, Farfetch, Raisin and Natural Cycles, and has helped Farfetch, NGINX and Semrush expand to the US. Runs a $865M Global Growth IV fund for Series B and beyond alongside its regional early-stage funds. Headline EU VIII is its eighth early-stage fund for European founders, closed at $400M, with Partner Jon Userovici among its leads.
