Investment Thesis
Crane Venture Partners invests at pre-seed and seed in enterprise software, on the thesis that Europe produces world-class technical founders who lack early institutional partners with genuine enterprise go-to-market expertise. It focuses on data infrastructure, developer tools, AI and vertical B2B software, positioning itself as the first cheque into technically deep teams.
Manager's Experience
Founded in 2015 in London by Krishna Visvanathan and Scott Sage, who between them have 47 years backing European founders. Visvanathan previously co-founded a deeptech startup; Sage came through marketing, strategy and finance roles. COO Bonnie Kraus qualified at Arthur Andersen and was Finance Director at Better Capital. The firm expanded materially into Asia — Carlos Jo-Loo leads APAC from Singapore, ex-MassMutual Ventures and BCG, and Anandamoy Roychowdhary joined as Managing Director for India and APAC after more than a decade at Sequoia Capital India, now Peak XV, where he was a key contributor to the Surge programme. Crane APAC I launched at $135M in September 2025 covering India, Singapore and Australia. Around 93 companies and 68 rounds; exits include Tessian to Proofpoint, plus Foundries.io, 7bridges, Nuclia and Re:infer. Offices in London, San Francisco, New York, Singapore and Bangalore.
