Investment Thesis
Clean Growth Fund invests in UK cleantech at seed through Series B, with a thesis that the commercialisation gap — not the science — is what stalls British climate innovation. They target companies with proven technology approaching market entry across clean energy, low-carbon transport, waste and resource efficiency, and industrial decarbonisation, providing the growth capital that bridges lab validation and commercial scale.
Manager's Experience
Established in 2020 and led by Founder and Managing Partner Beverley Gower-Jones OBE, a recognised specialist in early-stage cleantech investment and commercialisation, working in partnership with Northstar Ventures. BEIS and CCLA were cornerstone investors at £20 million each. Fund I raised £101 million from institutional investors including a diversified list of UK pension funds and has made 19 investments; Fund II is targeting £150 million and reached a £49 million first close in 2025. A certified B Corp, it makes initial investments of £500k–£5m at Seed and Series A across power and energy systems, transport, industrial decarbonisation, buildings, agrifood and land use, circular economy, waste and water. Lauren Juliff was appointed Head of Investor Relations and Sustainability.
